Boldtype CD Release Show!

Punk rock? Most would say that today, punk rock is hard to define. Modern day hybrid genres and crossover styles have diluted what many have relied on to be safe and comfortable representations of 'punk'. But punk rock was never meant to be safe. Whether facing the that keeps us all comfortable and safe. March with us, judge us, dance with us or label us, Boldtype will remain self reliant in the fight to deliver untainted truth. That's punk enough for us.

The Gamits
The Gamits "The Gamits are the Brett Favre of punk rock."

Think about it. When The Gamits disbanded in 2004, they went out on top. At a sold out show in Denver, CO, they bid farewell to the city, the fans, old tunes, and new classics from their second full-length entitled Antidote. Over the 10-year lifespan of the band, their music had matured from a pop punk band to that of a melodic rock trio that drew from varied influences with intricate guitar work, thoughtful lyrics, and beautifully simple song structure. In 2009, it all started over with a phone call from Japan.  The country that once embraced The Gamits wanted a reunion tour.  With the idea planted firmly in frontman Chris Fogal's mind, he called Scott Weigel and Forrest Bartosh to pick up the bass and drum duties and take a nice paid vacation to Tokyo.  But the idea grew from a simple reunion tour into a brand new album. "Parts" was completed in July at Fogal's Black In Bluhm studio in Denver.  Released in Sep/Oct 2010, this album is the next step forward for a band who may not have played together for a while, but must have been listening. The foundation of melodic rock is still the same, but this time the album takes on more of an edge. Vocally, the album is a departure from Fogal's sticky sweet tone of the past, and walks toward a gruffness reminiscent of Blake from Jawbreaker or Eric from Dillinger Four.  Musically, all the hooks are there, but they still leave room for texture through time changes and hard rock beats.  The album is woven together through lyrics that take the listener inside multiple personalities and tortured souls, past and present, suicidal and celebrating all at the same time.  PARTS is the logical next step for a band that every Gamits fan loves and everyone else hasn't heard yet.

Reno Divorce
Reno DivorceWith equal parts Orange County punk, honky tonk country, and rockabilly sensibilities, Reno Divorce strikes a unique chord of their own in a diluted genre of what passes as “Punk rock’n’roll”. Throw in well-crafted and deftly executed songs that straddle the line between Smithereens and and Social Distortion, and you’ve got a band that truly stands out amongst the herd. Oh, and there’s one more thing....this aint the boys’ first rodeo...they’ve played with almost all their punk hereos (ALL, Social D, TSOL, Adolescents, Agent Orange, Shattered Faith, X, The Blasters, Motorhead), and shared a tour bus with more contemporary heavy hitters, ala U.S. Bombs, The Bones, and Street Dogs. They’ve worked with the cream of the crop behind the scenes, as well.

Their last record, “Tears Before Breakfast” was produced by Jason Livermore at the world famous Blasting Room and the support tours for that album were handled by M.A.D. Booking in Europe, where among other great festivals, they graced the Saturday Night Fever Stage at With Full Force. Always captivating live, and wrought with more hooks than your uncle Bob’s tackle box, Reno Divorce has carved out a reputation as the real nitty gritty, a true “musician’s band” that pushes the envelope with every release, without sounding contrived or formulated. Brent Loveday’s adept songwriting and clever storytelling are brought to life by the bands expert musicianship. With Brent Loveday on lead guitar and vocals, Tim Jadowski on bass, Tye Battistella on rhythm guitar and Ruben Patino the band fires on all cylinders.

Reno Divorce has earned honors in Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Loud Fast Rules, and (more importantly to the band) the respect of their peers.
